WHAT WE BELIEVE
At the International Baptist Church of Tbilisi, we believe that Jesus Christ is God. There is One God in Three Divine Persons. There is a Holy Trinity, God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God The Son.
We believe that Jesus Christ as God, took a human body through being born of a virgin, lived a perfect, sinless life and died on the cross to pay for the sins of everyone who ever has or will exist.
Anyone can become a child of God, be saved forever, and spend eternity with God in Heaven if they will repent of their sins, believe that Jesus Christ is God and that He rose from the dead, and that His shed blood for all on the cross is the only thing that can atone and pay for sin, and then ask Christ based on those beliefs to come into their heart and be their personal Lord and Savior.
We believe that The Bible in its original form is without error and a perfect guide for faith and practice. The Bible has been preserved by God throughout history so we have today accurate, reliable, trustworthy versions that tell us without error or misrepresentation God’s Wonderful plan for us to be saved and to know it, and all that we need to know to live a life pleasing to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. The Bible is the believer’s supreme and only authority for faith and practice.
We believe that all believers should meet regularly for worship and for prayer and to study God’s Word. We believe that we should also give and work together to support Christian missionary ministry throughout the world and in our local communities so that everyone can learn about Christ’s love and gift of eternal life, and learn to live for Him by knowing and obeying His Word, The Bible.
We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. We believe the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ (see paragraph 3). There is no other way to be saved from Hell except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Good works are necessary for an obedient Christian life but they in no way pay for sins. No one is saved by doing good works or being a good person. Salvation is not by Jesus Christ plus good works or church rituals, or baptism, but by Jesus Christ and His shed blood alone.
We believe that God’s church has two main ordinances: Baptism and The Lord’sSupper. Baptism is not necessary for salvation. It does not wash away sins. However, baptism is necessary for believers to be obedient to Christ because God’s Word teaches all believers should be baptized AFTER they have believed in Christ alone to save them and have received Him into their hearts as their Lord and Savior. The Lord’s Table or Supper should be received by all believers AFTER they have received Christ and confessed any known sin in their lives. Also it does not wash away or atone for sins but is necessary to be obedient to God’s command to do it in remembrance of Christ’s death for sinners.
